Connect the oscillator output to thePXTAL_IN pin. PXTAL_OUT is left floating.NoteRefer to the Marvell ® PXA30x, PXA31x, and PXA32x Processor Electrical, Mechanical, and Thermal Specification for external 13 MHz oscillator-output drive levels.4.4.2 Power InterfaceTo enable low-power system design, the PXA3xx processor family has separate power-supplydomains for the PXA3xx processor family core, memory, and peripherals. All functional units within apower domain connect to the same power supply and are powered up and down together. Thisarchitecture provides flexibility in system configuration (for example, selection of different I/Ovoltages for memory and peripherals) and efficient power management (for example, selectingwhich peripherals are powered at the same time). In a complete system, there are other components besides the processor (such as DRAM, flashmemory, audio CODECs, touchscreen controllers, and specialized companion chips) that have theirown unique power requirements. In many designs, a highly integrated power controller suppliespower for the processor and other components, particularly those that interface directly to thePXA3xx processor family. An advanced power controller contains circuitry for charging batteries andpowering the display panel, and includes other analog functions as required by the system. ThePXA3xx processor family provides several dedicated control signals as well as an Inter-IntegratedCircuit (I 2 C) interface (PWR_I2C) to communicate with an external power-management integratedcircuit (PMIC)..Copyright © 2009 MarvellDoc.
