absolute principles of societyMaharishi explains that action motivated from the absolute level ofdharma may appear in its surface manifestation to be quite differentfrom the action expected at more localized levels; however, such dharmicaction always nourishes, enriches, and fulfills the dharmas of allareas and levels of life. Thus the ideal structure of society would be suchthat each level is fully able to carry out its own dharma which, thoughdifferent from the dharma of another level, is always coordinated withit from its source, the absolute field of dharma, the field of pure consciousness. When individual thought and action is supported by thelevel of absolute dharma, its expressions in various relative dharmasare always perfectly integrated with and fully nourishing to each other.Social Relationships and Social BehaviorThe foregoing consideration of dharma and society primarily addressesthe question of the ideal structure of society. As we have seen, Maharishiderives this structure from a consideration of the inner mechanics ofthe absolute basis of life and its evolution. At the same time, Maharishiprovides unique insight into the nature and structure of the social relationships, and the behavior that flows from them, which constitute theactual reality of ideal life in society. These principles will be the focusof this section.Maharishi begins by observing that all social relationships are basedon love. He explains this principle in the context of the commentaryon verse I.25:.7ãm:o5[pmu,t" sveRW;' c mh7i=t;m9Ÿv;c p;qR pÅywt;Nsmvet;NkuåinitBhԂshma-Droԗa-pramukhataԝ sarveshԀԣ cha mahԂkshitԀmuvԀcha PԀrtha pashyaitԀn samavetԀn kurԄn iti(Bhagavad-GԂtԀ, 1.25)Before BhԂshma and Droԗa and all the rulers of the earth,Lord KԆishԗa said: PԀrtha (Arjuna)! behold these Kurusgathered together.117
