Ideal Government in the Vålm⁄ki RåmåyaÔThe result is then experienced as the specific effect of the particularTM-Sidhi technique. (p. 39)This procedure of introducing the formulae and then coming backto the Self is known as Sanyama, and through its practice one is able tofulfill any desire by taking advantage of the infinite organizing powerof natural law inherent within Ātmā, the Self. The TM-Sidhi practicefurthermore enhances mind-body co-ordination and develops theability to enliven natural law to support all areas of life (Maharishi,1995a, p. 308); it “takes our conscious mind and makes it conversantwith that level of intelligence from where all the laws of nature function”(Gelderloos & van den Berg, 1989, p. 375).The TM-Sidhi program is highly significant in Maharishi’s AbsoluteTheory of Government, for it not only enhances individual growth tohigher states of consciousness but also creates a powerful influence oforder and coherence in the environment (Maharishi 1995b, p. 188). Thisis especially true of Yogic Flying, an advanced aspect of the TM-Sidhiprogram. The Rāmāyaṇ contains an expression that clearly describesthe mechanics of coming back to the Self as a prerequisite for the creationof a desired object. During a brief sub-story, the sage Vasishtacommanded Kāmadhuk—the wish-yielding cow capable of producinganything by mere intention—to produce vast armies in order to defeatan adversary (the sage Vishwamitra, who wished to take Kāmadhukfrom Vasishta). Significantly, in his command Vasishta explained themechanics of her creative ability:vis£Äody;m;s k;m/uKsOj yogt"Vasishthash chodayāmāsa Kāmadhuk sԆija yogataԝ(BԀl KԀԗd, 54.1)Vasishta commanded Kāmadhuk: “Create from Yoga.”Yoga, as we have seen, is self-referral consciousness, the total potentialof nature’s functioning—the field of all possibilities from whichevery aspect of creation emerges, and thus from which anything can becreated. Vasishta thus commanded Kāmadhuk to create from withinthis infinite field.155
