He attended Purdue University as a UniversityFellow, receiving his M.S. in 1973 and his Ph.D. in 1976 inpsychology. Dr. Dillbeck has published widely, including papers on thetheoretical foundations of Consciousness-Based approaches to psychologyand education, including empirical research testing the predictionsof this theory on such variables as EEG coherence, perceptual and cognitiveflexibility, reduced anxiety, reduction of crime rate, and improvedquality of life in society. These papers have appeared in such journalsas Memory and Cognition, Journal of Clinical Psychology, Psychologia, TheJournal of Mind and Behavior, and International Journal of Comparativeand Applied Criminal Justice.ABSTRACTThis research investigated the predictions of a new model of individual and socialbehavior which holds that the unified field of natural law underlying all aspectsof individual and collective life is a field of pure consciousness. The present studytested the hypothesis that when a sufficient number of people in the U.S. enliven pureconsciousness through the practice of the Maharishi Technology of the Unified Field(MTUF)—the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program—they wouldgenerate coherence throughout society, resulting in improved quality of national life.The hypothesis was supported by regression analysis of the effects of an index of theMTUF on an equally-weighted global index comprised of 11 quality of life indicatorsfor the U.S. (statistical significances ranged from .003 to .0001).
