What therefore God has joined together, let not manput asunder.” So what was lost in The Garden of Eden?It was God’s type of marriage. God’s marriage was lostin The Garden of Eden because, originally, Adam and Evewere one flesh and there was agàpè love. Why was it anagàpè type of love?Ephesians 5:28-29 28 So ought men to love their wivesas their own bodies. He that loves his wife loveshimself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh;but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord thechurch.Adam and Eve had an agàpè union. They could have hadan agàpè love or God’s love but agàpè love was lost. Howshould wives and husbands conduct themselves in a Godlymarriage? The answer is, “ 28 So ought men to love theirwives [how?] as their own bodies [Adam and Eve were of thesame body]. He that loves his wife loves himself.”Adam and Eve, having the same body, were one. “ 29 Forno man ever yet hated his own flesh.” Do you wonder whyit is hard for men to say “no” to a wife? A husband maywant something else and may hint at it, but usually hewill go along with her idea. Notice, “ 29 For no man ever yethated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, evenas the Lord the church.” God’s marriage is so completelydifferent from the world’s type of marriage. Adam couldnot fail to love his wife. Why? It is because she came outof him. Marriage is the fourth element. You are to becomeOne with God.
