236 God’s Puzzle SolvedIn The Abrahamic Covenant, Abraham was given 1)Physical Promises and 2) Spiritual Promises. Abraham istold to leave his country and go into a new land. The veryfirst book, Genesis, begins to tell you about The Gospel.In Galatians, Paul said this was The Gospel. “ 1 Now theLord had said to Abram, Get you out of your country andfrom your kindred and from your father’s house, to a landthat I will show you: 2 And I will make of you a great nation.[This is a physical promise not a spiritual promise]. 3 And Iwill bless you.” And, Abraham prospered.Genesis 49You are told that Abraham’s seed (all of his children) wouldprosper and be blessed. This is an amazing promise. Whenyou see wealthy nations prospering today, it is becausethey are the children of Abraham. “ 3 And I will bless youand make your name great: and you shall be a blessing.[Although this is directly out of Galatians 3:8, these are allphysical blessings]. And I will bless them that bless you andcurse him that curses you: and in you shall all families ofthe earth be blessed.” This is a spiritual blessing. In Galatians,Paul is talking about Christ and not about circumcision.Now, you will understand, in greater degree, thetime when circumcision became important.Genesis 17:1-8 1 And when Abram was ninety yearsold and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram and said tohim, I am the Almighty God; walk before me and beyou perfect. 2 And I will make my Covenant betweenme and you and will multiply you exceedingly. 3 AndAbram fell on his face: and God talked with him,saying, 4 As for me, behold, my Covenant is with you
