It should read, “Wherefore then theLaw?” In other words, why The Law? That is an accuratetranslation because the word “serve” is not there.Purpose Of The LawWhat was the purpose of The Law? In The King Jamesversion, the text says, “ 19 Wherefore then serve the law?”In other words, why bother keeping it? A better translationis, “What purpose then has the Law?” No scripturecan make the purpose of The Old Covenant and The Law ofMoses any clearer. “It was added [why?] because of transgressions[for how long?] till the seed should come.” So, itwill last only until The Seed (Christ) should come.
