442 God’s Puzzle Solvedhis heart. 29 And if your right eye offend you, pluck itout and cast it from you: for it is profitable for youthat one of your members should perish and not thatyour whole body should be cast into hell. 30 And if yourright hand offend you, cut it off and cast it from you:for it is profitable for you that one of your membersshould perish and not that your whole body should becast into hell.Jesus Christ explains a little more about The Lake of Fire. You now know the type of righteousness that Christiansmust have. You are not dealing with The Law of Moseshere but with The Royal Law. The Law you are now underis The Royal Law. The Law of Moses gives an opportunityfor unconverted people to come to Christ (Galatians3:10-13 and I Timothy 1:9).Notice the words “the right eye.” Christ is explaining humannature in this example. He uses an eye as a metaphorfor sin. Christ is talking about the different parts of sinwithin your nature. It needs to be plucked out. This musthappen in order to prevent you from being cast into Gehenna. When you become a witness of Christ as His Ambassador,it means that you are willing to give up your lifeand put to death anything that is in your human nature. This is not martyrdom. Paul said, “though I give my bodyto be burned and have not charity [agàpè] it profits me nothing”(I Corinthians 13:3). You need a change of nature.God is asking if you are willing to give up your way ofdoing things, even when you think you are doing what isright. When you repent, you have a change of heart andyou put your human nature to death.
