[But they did not return.The reason is made clear].16But now they desire a bettercountry, that is, an heavenly.” At that time, they knewthere would be a New Heaven and a New Earth sometimein the future. This is certain because the text says thatGod, “has prepared for them a city. 17 By faith Abrahamoffered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offeredup his only begotten son.”The promise would be realized through Isaac and, specifically,The Tribe of Judah. This covenant had promisesthat were different from the later promises of The New
