God’s Mind Revealed191The word “perfect” does not mean that Noah never sinned.He drank too much but still Noah was blameless. Christexplains, “Be you therefore perfect, even as your Fatherwhich is in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48). The word“perfect” means “blameless” but not without sin. Everyhuman being, from the time of Adam and Eve, has sinnedand comes short of The Glory of God. The only way to beperfect and blameless is to make the right choice to faithfullyfollow the will of God to perfection.If Adam and Eve would have said “No” to Satan, thenthings would have been so different. They should havelooked only to The Tree of Life. Instead, mankind startedoff with murderers, Cain and his children. Then the worldended up with only one perfect man, Noah. At that juncture,God flooded the world (II Peter 3). He had given eachperson almost one thousand years to live and to make theright choice. Their behavior never changed even thoughthey suffered and had many sorrows. It somehow nevermade any difference to them.So God destroyed them all – except Noah, his wife andhis children. Mankind wouldn’t follow God even thoughthey lived up to a thousand years and saw all the sorrowsof the world. They had many opportunities to realize thatsin brought only sorrow. So, God decided to reduce man’slife span to 120 years. By the time of David, God reducedman’s lifespan to 70 years. It may have been a favor toreduce the life span. Job said that the day of his deathwas better than the day of his birth. He knew what he wastalking about. Out of His mercy, God said that He gavea thousand years, then 120 years and later only 70 years,for mankind to learn of good and evil. Still, those pre-
