11 CARPET<br />

Heritage carpets exist in all zones as set out in the plans below. They range from wool and wool blend commercial<br />

grade loop pile to wool brush pile specifically designed and made for the place.<br />

See Figure 18 for location of heritage carpet.<br />

Permitted Actions<br />

Regular visual inspections of carpet and monitoring as<br />

outlined in the Human Impact Management Program,<br />

the Integrated Pest Management Plan and the Building<br />

Fabric Investigation Permitted Action Schedule.<br />

Regular cleaning in accordance with the<br />

Housekeeping Permitted Actions Schedule.<br />

If necessary, carpet may be taped<br />

using 3M 471 or Painters Tape.<br />

Repairs to edges or frayed seams by a trained carpet<br />

layer or conservator using traditional methods.<br />

Dry-cleaning using commercial grade equipment.<br />

The use of sacrificial carpets over existing carpet in<br />

areas of high wear on advice from a conservator.<br />

Not Permitted Actions<br />

Invasive inspections.<br />

Cleaning with un-authorised products.<br />

The use of gaffer tape.<br />

Pot plants on carpet.<br />

Repairs to edges or frayed seams by an<br />

untrained person and or using contemporary<br />

or inappropriate methods.<br />

Wet-cleaning using domestic or<br />

commercial grade equipment<br />

Removal of heritage carpet.<br />

12 RUBBER <strong>AND</strong> LINOLEUM FLOORING<br />

Heritage rubber and linoleum floors exist in all zones as set out in the plans in Figure 18.<br />

Permitted Actions<br />

Regular visual inspections of rubber and linoleum<br />

and monitoring as outlined in the Human<br />

Impact Management Program, the Integrated<br />

Pest Management Plan and the Building Fabric<br />

Investigation Permitted Action Schedule.<br />

Regular cleaning in accordance with the<br />

Housekeeping Permitted Actions Schedule.<br />
