4.3.1 Old Parliament House management may<br />

actively pursue partnerships and memberships with<br />

private industry, universities, professional bodies<br />

and related institutions with a view to ensuring<br />

information sharing, the promotion of the place to all<br />

sections of the community and enhancing heritage<br />

management outcomes at Old Parliament House.<br />

4.3.2 Old Parliament House management may<br />

become a member of, or maintain its existing<br />

membership of relevant organisations.<br />

4.3.3 Old Parliament House management may<br />

explore commercial partnerships with other<br />

institutions in Australia and elsewhere, and private<br />

enterprise, that are likely to generate resources for<br />

the continued conservation of Old Parliament House<br />

and which will assist in promoting and telling the<br />

story of Australian democracy and Old Parliament<br />

House.<br />

4.4.1 Old Parliament House management may<br />

maintain and enhance its volunteers program.<br />

4.5.1 Old Parliament House management must<br />

recognise that it owns or controls a large body of<br />

potentially sensitive data. It must:<br />

a store all potentially sensitive documentation in a<br />

secure environment<br />

b disseminate and manage that data in an ethical<br />

manner<br />

c obtain written consent from relevant parties<br />

before recording or disseminating potentially<br />

sensitive data, and<br />

d act in accordance with the Privacy Act, Freedom<br />

of Information requirements and the<br />

Commonwealth Protective Security Manual.<br />

4.5.2 Old Parliament House management must<br />

identify appropriate stakeholders and community<br />

representatives and conduct appropriate Indigenous<br />

consultation in relation to the recording, storage<br />

or dissemination of information that may have<br />

Indigenous cultural values.<br />

Nominate a staff member responsible for<br />

maintaining industry engagement and<br />

memberships.<br />

Provide and review an annual training<br />

and continuous improvement programs<br />

for volunteers in a wide array of<br />

operational areas including, for instance,<br />

interpretation and research.<br />

Develop and implement a sensitive data<br />

management strategy.
