Interpretation,<br />

exhibition and<br />

education<br />

4.6.1 Old Parliament House management must<br />

maintain and implement an Interpretation Plan<br />

that includes learning and temporary exhibitions<br />

consistent with the Heritage Management Plan.<br />

4.6.2 Old Parliament House management must<br />

engage in an active program of interpretation to<br />

advocate for and present the heritage values of the<br />

place, employing a wide range of media and aimed<br />

at a wide audience, including scholars, special<br />

interest groups and the public.<br />

4.6.3 Old Parliament House management may,<br />

as part of the Interpretation Plan, explore ways<br />

of delivering interpretive material electronically<br />

including the development and implementation of a<br />

web-based interpretation program, accessible to the<br />

public.<br />

4.6.4 Old Parliament House management may, as<br />

part of the Interpretation Plan, develop a program<br />

of interpretation based on the Old Parliament<br />

House zones based on a thematic approach and<br />

emphasising the identified heritage values.<br />

4.6.5 Old Parliament House management may<br />

develop and implement as part of the Education<br />

Plan specific learning strategies which are integrated<br />

with the national and state school curricula (primary<br />

and secondary schools) and university teaching<br />

programs.<br />

4.6.6 As resources permit, Old Parliament House<br />

management may expand its off-site audience<br />

development through:<br />

• web-based activities<br />

• education programs<br />

• events<br />

• travelling programs<br />

Specific tasks<br />

Update and implement the Interpretation<br />

Plan, Exhibition Plan (with a forward<br />

program) and Education Learning Strategy<br />

to be consistent with this Heritage<br />

Management Plan.<br />

Regularly review and evaluate<br />

effectiveness of Interpretation, Exhibition<br />

and Education Plans.<br />

Develop and implement a web-based<br />

interpretation program.
