3.2.7 SGC-C-0002 (Airline Highway Pipeline Improvements)<br />

Project Description<br />

Purpose of the Project / Project Background<br />

The SGC-C-0002 (Airline Highway Pipeline Improvements) project includes those segments<br />

previously included in SGC-C-0003 (Essen Lane - Interstate-12) and SGU-C-0002 (Airline<br />

Highway - Interstate 12) from the October 2008 PDP. The project includes the following:<br />

Upsizing of the gravity sewer upstream of PS 58 to alleviate SSOs in the vicinity of the<br />

gravity sewer and pump station.<br />

Upsizing of the gravity sewers upstream of PS 50 and PS 66 and construction of new<br />

forcemains at PS 66 and PS 50 to address upstream SSOs.<br />

Construction of a new forcemain from the new pump station (PS 5xx), described in SGC-<br />

C-0001 (Florida Blvd Pump Station Improvements project), to the manifold point with<br />

the new forcemain from PS 50.<br />

Construction of a new forcemain from the manifold point to PS 58.<br />

Location<br />

The gravity sewers to be replaced under the SGC-C-0002 project are located near the<br />

intersection of Interstates 10 and 12, Old Hammond Highway, and north toward Airline<br />

Highway, and are shown in Figure 3-16.<br />

Gravity segment 058-00036 to 058-00015 starts northeast of the intersection of McCarroll<br />

Drive and Claret Drive, north of Interstate 12. The gravity segment travels south crossing<br />

Interstate 12 until reaching 058-00029. The gravity segment then travels southeast until<br />

reaching 058-00021, and southwest along Essen Lane until reaching 058-00015, located<br />

northeast of the North Essen Heights Court and Essen Lane Intersection.<br />

Gravity segment 058-00586 to 058-00523 starts near the intersection of South Seracedar Street<br />

and Cedarcrest Avenue and travels south on Cedarcrest Avenue until reaching 058-00523. The<br />

gravity segment ends northeast of the Cedarcrest Avenue and Airline Highway intersection.<br />

Section 058-00523 to 058-00501 starts northeast of the Cedarcrest Avenue and Airline<br />

Highway intersection. The gravity segment travels southwest until reaching 058-00501,<br />

located west of the Airline Highway and Cedarcrest Avenue intersection.<br />

Section 058-00501 to 058-00479 starts west of the Airline Highway and Cedarcrest Avenue.<br />

intersection. The gravity segment travels southwest until reaching 058-00430, south along<br />

Bea Drive until reaching 058-00440 near Jefferson Highway, west until reaching 058-00446,<br />

and south until reaching 058-00479, located east of the Idlewood Drive and Ridgely Road<br />

intersection.<br />

Gravity segment PS250DS to 058-00479 starts east of the Landsbury Avenue and Hackberry<br />

Drive intersection. The gravity segment travels northwest until reaching 058-00479, located<br />

east of the Idlewood Drive and Ridgely Road intersection.<br />

Gravity segment 058-00479 to 058-00490 starts east of the Idlewood Drive and Ridgely Road<br />

intersection. The gravity line travels northwest along a drainage canal until reaching 058-<br />

00490, located south of the Inniswold Road and Jefferson Highway intersection.<br />

Segment 058-00490 to 058-00017 starts south of the Inniswold Road and Jefferson Highway<br />

intersection. The gravity line travels northwest crossing Bluebonnet Blvd and travels along<br />
