Epic Hikes of the World ( PDFDrive )

Before long we stepped out from the trees to an amazing high-mountain
panorama. The craggy 5919ft (1804m) Pic de Bazès towered to our right, while the
Pyrénées-Atlantiques range of mountains stretched off to the horizon in every other
direction. Our path was now flat and wide, with plenty of blackberry bushes dotted
along the way, so our kids’ spirits soon returned to the high levels of the previous
day.
We walked side by side on the springy mountain grass and had the kind of
enjoyable and meandering chats you only seem to have with your children on long
walks, when phones and all other distractions are out of sight. Along with the
donkey, the lack of mobile signal was the unexpected highlight of the trip.
Regardless of how Instagram-worthy the view was, our focus was here; it was pure
family time.
