BLACK HERITAGE TRAIL

Another fascinating route winds through the streets of Beacon Hill. The Black

Heritage Trail (maah.org/trail.htm) links sites connected with the African-American

community who settled here and in the North End. It includes the 1806 African

Meeting House (the USA’s oldest surviving black church) and Abiel Smith School,

founded in 1835 and now home of the Museum of African American History.
