The fine adjustment in the height of tower frames is made with

screw jacks installed in the bottom or top, or both, of all legs. Also, the

lower jack or adjustable base is used to compensate for uneven

ground or floor conditions. In general, the bottom jacks should be

used to level and plumb the scaffolding, and the top jacks should be

used for exact adjustments in height.

If the scaffolding is to be moved from one location to another on

a project, casters, which support the scaffolding only while it is being

moved, may be attached to the bottoms of the legs. An entire tower

frame can be moved as a single unit with a crane.

Safety Practices Using Tubular Scaffolding

As for all construction operations, there are certain practices which

should be observed when using tubular scaffolding to support formwork.

These include the following:

1. Install sufficient sills or underpinning in addition to base plates

on all scaffolding to provide adequate support from the ground.
