justify the possible higher initial cost, consideration might be given to

using sheet-metal forms, with wood ribs sawed to the required

curvature, spaced not more than 12 in. apart, and used to back up the

metal to prevent distortion. Figure 14-12 illustrates two types of formwork

for producing special corner designs in buildings or other concrete

structures.

Forms for Parapets

The forms for several types of parapet walls are illustrated in

Figure 14-13. On the exposed sides of the walls the forms are constructed

to reproduce the specified details and ornaments. The forms

for the back wall may be supported by 1- by 4-in. pieces of lumber,

pointed on the lower ends, which rest on the slab decking. The supporting

pieces are removed before the concrete slab hardens, and the

holes are filled with concrete.

Forms for Roof Members

Figures 14-14 and 14-15 illustrate the pleasing aesthetics that can be

achieved by using plywood in making forms for roof members.
