Figure 12-17 illustrates another method of supporting horizontal

shores on steel frame construction. Figure 12-17(a) is a Spanall bearing

on a 4 × 6 ledger that is hung from a steel hanger over the structural

steel beam. The plywood is placed directly on top of the horizontal

shores. Figure 12-17(b) is a Spanall bearing on a 4 × 6 ledger hung from

a steel hanger over a structural steel beam. The plywood is placed on

joists that rest on the horizontal shores.

Figure 12-18 illustrates methods of using horizontal shores with

forms for a flat slab with drophead construction. Figure 12-18(a) is a

typical cross section showing the Spanall and joists supporting the

dropheads on the lower ledger while the upper ledger supports the

Spanall. The plywood is placed directly on the horizontal shoring.
