6.9.2 Design of fabricated single post shores in shoring layouts shall be based on working loads which

were obtained using these test procedures and at least a 3 to 1 safety factor.

6.9.3 All fabricated single post shores shall be inspected before being used by the contractor who

erects the equipment.

6.9.4 Fabricated single post shores shall not be used if excessively rusted, bent, dented, rewelded

beyond the original factory weld locations or have broken welds. If they contain timber, they shall

not be used if timber is split, cut, has sections removed, is rotted or otherwise structurally damaged.

6.9.5 All clamps, screws, pins, threads and all other components shall be in a condition similar to that

of original manufacturer.

6.10 Adjustable timber single post shores.

6.10.1 All working load ratings for adjustable post shores shall be based on tests conducted according

to a standard test procedure established by the Scaffolding, Shoring & Forming Institute, Inc. for

fabricated single post shores, or its equivalent.

6.10.2 Timber used shall have allowable working load for each size, grade, species and shoring

height, as recommended by the clamp manufacturer.

6.10.3 Design of adjustable timber single posts in shoring layouts shall be. based on working loads which

were obtained using the.test procedure and at least a 3 to 1 safety factor.

6.10.4 All timber and adjusting devices to be used for adjustable timber single post shores shall be

inspected before erection by the contractor who erects the equipment.

6.10.5 Timber shall not be used if it is split, cut, has sections removed, is rotted, or is otherwise structurally

damaged.

6.10.6 Adjusting devices shall not be used if excessively rusted, bent, dented, rewelded beyond the

original factory weld locations, or have broken welds.

6.10.7 Hardwood wedges shall be used to obtain final adjustment and firm contact with footing sills and

form material.

6.10.8 All nails used to secure bracing on adjustable timber single post shores shall be driven home and

bent over if possible.

6.10.9 When placing an adjustable clamp, it shall be aligned parallel to the slringers.

6.11 Timber single post shores.

6.11.1 All safety factors and allowable working loads for timber used as single post shores shall be as

recommended in tables for wooden columns in the current edition of the "Wood Structural Design

Data Book", prepared by the National Forest Products Association, Washington, D.C.

6.11.2 Design of timber single posts in shoring layouts shall be based on working loads which were

obtained by using the tables referred to in Paragraph 6.11.1.

6.11.3 All timber to be used for single post shoring shall be inspected before erection by the contractor

who erects the equipment.

6.11.4 Timber shall not be used if it is split, cut, has sections removed, is rotted, or is otherwise structurally

damaged.

6.11.5 The ends of supporting timbers shall be cut square to provide proper bearing.

6.11.6 Hardwood wedges shall be used to oblain final adjustment and firm contact with footing sills and

form material.

6.11.7 All nails used to secure bracing on timber single post shores shall be driven home and bent over

if possible.
