and types. Simple and quick clamping attachment shoes allow fast

setting and stripping in typical 12-ft modules with a small crew.

Overhang forms strip and set complete with slab edge forms,

hand rail posts, and lower personnel access scaffolding by crane as

one unit. The slab edge form is adjustable so that the form face will be

plumb even on superelevated curves.

All-Steel Forms for Bridge Structures

Modular all-steel forms are available for forming bridges, as illustrated

in Figure 16-12. This forming system, manufactured by EFCO,

has the ability to be self-supporting and self-spanning. The steel

ribs on the form panels serve two purposes: as web stiffeners and as

beams to transfer the horizontal pressures of the liquid concrete from

the form face plate to the form panel top and bottom flanges.

This form system is available in modular lengths that can be

bolted together easily, which provides flexibility for changing job

conditions. The self-supporting ability of this forming system enables

the contractor to pour aerial concrete without shoring between

spans.
