1. Loads are based on allowable tensile stress of 30,000 lb per sq in., for K-series joists adopted by the Steel Joist Institute.

2. Top figures give total safe uniformly distributed load-carrying capacities, in lb per lin ft. Dead loads, including joists, must be deducted to determine

the load-carrying capacity of joists.

3. Numbers in parentheses represent linear load per foot of joist which will produce a deflection of l/360 of span. For a deflection of l/240, multiply the

number in parentheses by 360/240, or 1.5. For a deflection of l/270, multiply the number in parentheses by 360/270, or 1.333.
