for major walls. Job-built or patented form panels may be used. Panels

2 ft wide, in lengths that are multiples of 2 ft, up to 8 ft, will permit

the use of 4- by 8-ft sheets of Plyform without waste. It may be desirable

to provide some odd-length panels for use on walls whose

lengths are not multiples of 2 ft.

Figure 8-2 shows views of a job-built panel that uses ¾ 1 × 4-in.

Plyform for the facing and 2 × 4 S4S lumber for the plates and studs.

It will be noted that the edges of the Plyform are flush with the exterior

surfaces of the two end studs. However, the top and bottom

edges of the plywood extend ¹⁄8 in. above and below the exterior top

and bottom surfaces of the 2 × 4 plates. This will permit fast and easy

placing of spreader-type form ties through the wall and the forms.

Example 8-1

Design the forms for a 4-ft-high foundation wall using the panel

forms shown in Figure 8-2. The foundation wall will be formed by

stacking two of the form panels in the vertical direction, shown as

follows.
