Column Clamps for Column Forms

Column clamps that provide support for the sheathing of column

forms may be constructed of wood yokes or steel clamps. Wood yokes

are not as commonly used today as they have been in the past.

Several types of attachments and locking devices are available

from numerous manufacturers, which may be used to secure the

composite plywood and stud forming system. These formwork accessories

include patented steel clamps, which are attached with wedge

bolts, and cam-locks, which attach horizontal walers on the outside

of the vertical studs.

Design of Wood Yokes for Columns

Wood yokes may be made from 2 × 4, 3 × 4, or 4 × 4, or larger pieces

of lumber, assembled around a column, as illustrated in Figure 10-5.
