For 4 × 6 S4S stringers, No. 2 grade Southern Pine:
Allowable bending stress = 1,328 lb per sq in.
Allowable shear stress = 212 lb per sq in.
Modulus of elasticity = 1,440,000 lb per sq in.
Permissible deflection less than l/360, but not greater than ¹⁄16 in.
The forms for the concrete slab should be built to the following
conditions:

Figure 11-12 summarizes the design. Slab forms must be braced
adequately to resist any eccentric loads or lateral forces due to wind.
The lateral force applied to slab forms is discussed in Chapter 5.
