Forms for Beams and Floor Slabs 339

FIGURE 11-5 Forms for a drop panel.

ww.EasyEngineering.n

Figure 11-5 illustrates a method of constructing forms for a drop

panel to provide a greater thickness for the concrete slab adjacent to a

column. The decking may be made of plywood, assembled in two

equal parts, with a joint along section line A-A.

The forms for drop panels are erected and rigidly braced first,

then the forms for the main slabs are erected. Using the method illustrated,

the forms for the columns are stripped first, followed by the

forms for the drop panels, then the forms for the balance of the slab.

The forms may be erected to permit some panels to remain in position,

supported by shores, as long as such support is required.

Figure 11-6 illustrates a method of constructing forms for the

main slab. Two-way diagonal braces, extending from the bottoms to

the tops of adjacent shores, should be installed to provide adequate

strength and rigidity.
