____ About 1.5 m tall, broad to conically growing shrub; leaves very
dense-growing, stiff and leathery, shiny green, spathulate and
upward curving - frost-hardy, fruitful and very tolerant to shade;
suitable for undergrowth planting and for hedging; was awarded
„Very Good“ during the federal cultivar trial in Germany in 1987.

____ Seedling-selection from OPRINS, Belgium. Erect to bushy growing,
well branched when pruned; young shoots brownish, later
dark brown; foliage dark green, slightly glossy, alternate, oval to
lanceolate, up to 2 cm long, evergreen; flowers small, white, inconspicuous
in May – June; black fruits, up to 6 mm in size, long
lasting – a more and more demanded alternative to Buxus, relatively
good winter hardy, tolerates shade, pruning, root pressure
and urban climates; in the origin country Japan often trained and
pruned into all sorts of shapes. Good for architectural accents,
attractive hedge plant, ecologically valuable. B, H, K, St, Z. Zone
