____ A shrub growing 1.5 to 2 m tall with a rounded, upright growing
pattern and dense basal shoots. Leaves oblong, cordate to
orbicular, 5 to 10 cm long, appearing bronze red when young
and turning shiny dark green later, underside bluish green, hairy
along the venation, with a strikingly impressive autumn colours
of yellow, orange to red. Flowers fragrant, smelling of honey,
borne on upright growing, 4 to 8 cm long, pure white spikes with
yellow anthers. A lovely shrub as specimen, exotic looking flowers
and spectacular autumn colours suitable for gardens and
parks. K, R, S. Zone 5b.
