____ In its native country up to 15 m tall, but only 5 to 7 m tall when<br />

grafted; a slow-growing tree with beautiful, dense growth and<br />

bearing cones when young; needles glossy green, white underneath;<br />

cones numerous, 4 to 7 cm long, violet-bronze when<br />

unripe, later bronze - an attractive fir, requiring little space. S.<br />

gardens, whose twigs are very useful for ornamental wreaths.<br />
