____ Growing narrowly columnar, with tight, upright-growing, dense
branches having short twigs, and protruding shoots; needles
dark green, up to 3 cm long, arranged either radially on the pointed
shoots, otherwise in two rows; olive green seeds covered
with red, fleshy coats, about 1 cm in size, with a striking colour,
appearing from September - an especially hardy cultivar, tolerant
to city climate, for planting as a specimen, in groups or in
troughs, especially valuable for hedging. H, K, R, S, St. Zone 5b.

____ A selection out of this sturdy-growing, narrow and evenly columnar
cultivar, that stands out due to its evenly deep dark green
foliage; only 5 to 6 m tall, very densely branched with fan-like
branchlets - one of the best amongst the columnar-growing cultivars
of T. occidentalis, equally decorative as a specimen or
when planted in groups, very hardy, ideal for hedging, pruning
practically not necessary. H, R, St. Zone 5b.
