____ Another very interesting cultivar arising out of the Higher Federal<br />

Learning and Research Institute Vienna- Schönbrunn (Höheren<br />

Bundeslehr- und Versuchsanstalt Wien-Schönbrunn). Similar to<br />

‘Jolico’, with large, bright red, slightly pear-liked fruits and the<br />

sweetest taste amongst all cultivars. A healthy and robust plant<br />

with a high ornamental and economic value, suitable for crop<br />

____ A shrub or small tree, similar to C. mas with an attractive bark<br />

that peels off into large sheets; leaves oval to elliptic, 5 to 12 cm<br />

long, dark green and shiny above, autumn colours lovely light<br />

bronze-red; flowers appearing in February-March, bright yellow,<br />

borne in 2 cm wide, loose umbels; fruits scarlet red, 1.5 cm long<br />

- a lovely plant that flowers about 1 to 2 weeks before C. mas,<br />

very striking due to its large flowers. D, H, R, St. Zone 5a.<br />

____ An up to 2 m tall shrub, growing broad, upright and densely<br />

bushy. Branches striking yellow in winter, though bright orange<br />

red on the sunny side and at the end of the branches. Leaves<br />

dark green, turning yellowish orange in autumn. Flowers white.<br />

Fruits black. A decorative shrub that appears as a burning bush<br />
