scopulorum ´Skyrocket´ (= virginiana ´Skyrocket´, chin ´Skyrocket´, scopulorum pillaris)
____ Growing at least 4 m tall, with an especially narrow, pillar-like
growing habit and strictly upright branches that lie close to one
another; foliage vivid bluish-green - one of the narrowest-growing
and pillar-like conifers, a good substitute of the real cypresses
of the mediterranean region for the Northern Hemisphere.
D, K, R, S, St. Zone 5a.
squamata ´Blue Carpet´ - Blue Carpet Juniper
____ Resulted from a shoot mutation of ´Meyeri´, growing very flat
and spreading, hardly more than 30 cm in height; leaves needlelike,
bluish-white - a noble, strong-growing ground cover for sunny
to semi-shady positions: a Gold Medallion award winner at
the Flora-Nova in Boskoop in 1976. B, K, St, Z. Zone 5b.
squamata ´Blue Star´ - Blue Star Juniper
____ A very slow-growing, densely-branched dwarf cultivar, resulted
from a witches´ broom of ´Meyeri´, and showing the similar striking,
bluish-white colours of its foliage - a valuable dwarf cultivar
for planting on graves or troughs or for rock gardens. K, St, Z.
Zone 5b.
squamata ´Meyeri´ - Meyeri Juniper
____ A well-known cultivar, with dense branches especially when
young, reaching 3 to 5 m tall when older, and must be kept compact
through timely pruning - a popular and widely used woody
plant due to its striking, bluish-white foliage. K, R, St. Zone 5b.
virginiana ´Grey Owl´
____ A strong-growing shrub with ascending branches; similar to J.
chinensis ´Pfitzeriana´ in growth, though having bluish foliage
and crimson shoot tips in winter. D, K, R, St. Zone 5a.
