____ A semi-green, clockwise-twining climber, 6 to 10 m tall; leaves
consisting of 5 radially arranged oval leaflets - handshaped, dark
green above, bluish-green underneath; flowers borne in May in
racemes, violet-bronze in female plants, about 3 cm across, pink
in male plants, about 1 cm, fragrant; fruits striking purple-violet
or light violet, felty hue, up to 10 cm long, bursting decoratively
when fully ripe in August to October - a very strong-growing climber,
especially when older, requires warm and nutrient-rich soils,
though adaptable to other conditions, very effective on climbing
supports like pergolas, summerhouses, trellis, walls, fences etc.

____ A climber, 7 to 9 m tall, clinging densely to its support and able
to hold on to any rough surface; leaves pinnate, up to 25 cm long
with 9 to 11 leaflets; flowers striking orange-red to scarlet-red,
up to 8 cm long, borne on the tips of 1-year old shoots; fruits 8
to 10 cm long – a very valuable and striking liana for covering of
walls, pergolas, terraces etc. Zone 6b.

tagliabuana ´Madame Galen´ - Trumpet Vine
____ Grows slower than C. radicans, reaching only 4 m tall, and needed
to be bound on climbing support; leaves pinnate, up to 45
cm long; flowers broadly funnel-shaped, orange to scarlet red, 8
cm long, borne in large panicles in August/September. Zone 6b.
