____ Differs from the species in its somewhat larger leaves and the<br />

larger, about 1 cm thick, somewhat sour fruits high in vitamin C<br />

level; fruits suitable for making jelly - not suitable in calcareous<br />

soils. R. Zone 4.<br />

____ 5 to 7 m tall, rather slow-growing tree with rigid, narrowly conical<br />

May/June; fruits elliptic, brownish, with lighter-coloured spots,<br />

up to 1.5 cm long - a popular park tree, very suitable for calcareous<br />
