VACCINIUM macrocarpon ´Stevens´ (= Oxycoccus macrocarpus ´Stevens´) - American Cranberry, Bearberry ´Stevens´ NEW!
____ An evergreen, low growing and flat mats building shrub; shoots
up to 2 m long. Leaves are long-elliptic, 1-2 cm, on top dark
green and on the underside whitish. Flowers are light purple and
flowering in July-August. The red fruits are 1-2 cm big and containing
a high level of Vitamin C as well as scores of other bioactive
ingredients. This trendy fruit which contains a complex
healthiness-program was already used many-sided by the Native
Americans. ´Stevens´ is the variety used by the commercial
cranberry growers in the USA. B, Z. Zone 2.

____ An evergreen, up to 30 cm tall dwarf shrub, that grows and covers
the ground with the aid of its underground suckers; leaves

borne in small, terminal racemes; fruits bright red, pea-size, sour
- a cultivar with high yields; excellent as ground cover for sandy,
humus-rich, acidic soils. B, Z. Zone 4.
