____ A very slow yet dense-growing conifer, hardly 1 m tall, having<br />

a blunt, conical shape; needles are rather thick, fresh green<br />

and arranged radially - a lovely dwarf spruce, that was already<br />

known since around 1800. K, Z. Zone 3.<br />

breweriana - Brewer´s Weeping Spruce<br />

____ A tree-like, 15 to 20 m tall tree with narrow, conical growing habit<br />

and horizontal branches, whereupon the long, delicate twigs<br />

hanging from them up to often 2 m long; needles are dark green,<br />

20 to 25 mm long, arranged loosely and radially - the most elegant<br />

of all spruces with an unique appearance, that is absolutely<br />

hardy and can even find its place in a small garden. S. Zone 6a.<br />

glauca ´Alberta Globe´<br />

____ A dwarf cultivar (mutation of P. glauca ´Conica´) with a rounded<br />

shape; needles are fine, green, 6 to 9 mm long - a lovely dwarf<br />

cultivar, especially attractive and neat for small areas. K, S, Z.<br />

____ A dwarf cultivar, growing rather low, flat and bushy with its very<br />
