rhamnoides ´Hikul´ (= ´Silver Star´) - Dwarf Sea Buckthorn
____ A rounded, dense-growing cultivar from Denmark, reaching
about 1 to 1.5 m tall and wide within 10 years; young shoots are
short, upright, rigid and well-branched; leaves 4 to 5 cm long, 1
cm wide, green with a strong silvery shine, leaves fall around
November – an interesting and compact plant for small areas,
hedges, as a specimen or in areas that are often treated with
salt; professor P.E. BRANDNER, Institute of Landskabsplanter,
Hornum, Danmark selected the variety in 1965 from seedlings.

____ A broad and upright-growing shrub with sturdy fruiting branches;
fruits large, deep orange-red, cylindrical to bead-like, fixed
densely on fruiting sprigs, ripening rather late (mid September
to mid October), fruit colour remains even after frosts throughout
the winter - a beloved cultivar with high vitamin C-content, and
especially lovely as ornamental shrub and for bouquets; brought
into trade by H.-J. ALBRECHT, Berlin, in 1979. D, H, St. Zone 4.

____ Sturdy growth, broad and upright with wide spreading side
branches, moderately thorny. Fruits large, oblong to oval, lightly
hairy, bright yellowish-orange, colours solid, dense fruiting already
from mid to end September. A top cultivar from the hybridization
programme of H.-J. ALBRECHT, Berlin – considered as
the crème de la crème from this series. D, H, St. Zone 4. Registered
