____ One of the loveliest yellow-leaved, pillar-like growing cultivar in
the whole range of available cultivars; young shoots are bronzecoloured
– a lovely and a very good-growing cultivar that should
be more widely used. S. Zone 6b.
baccata ´Höpkens Gigant´ - Yew ´Höpkens Gigant´
____ An exceptionally fast-growing selection, arising out of H.-J. HO-
EPKEN nursery; nearly as fast growing as Thuja, the breeder
calls this variety as „world‘s fastest growing Taxus“, building a
good main stem with lesser side branches – suitable for making
of spirals etc. or for fast-growing hedges. H, K, R, S, St. Zone 5b.
baccata ´Overeynderi´ (= baccata erecta overeynderi)
____ Growing broad and cone-shaped, 3 to 5 m tall, with branches
arranged evenly and upright with numerous sprigs; needles are
small, narrow, deep green above, and dull green below - a valuable,
hardy cultivar also for hedging. H, R, S, St. Zone 6a.
baccata ´Repandens´ - Spreading English Yew
____ Hardly over 50 cm tall with its flatly spreading branches; needles
somewhat bent scimitar-like and dark green - one of the best
cultivars for mass undergrowth planting even in deep shade. B,
K, R, St, Z. Zone 6a.
baccata ´Schwarzgrün´ - Yew ´Schwarzgrün´ NEW!
____ Our own selection with a compact, even broadly bushy growth
and exceptionally dark green needles; an especially frost-hardy
cultivar, that grows on light as well as heavy soils, and even in
very shady positions; for planting as specimen or in groups, for
small gardens, graveyard planting and for troughs - exellent for
hedging. H, K, R, S, St. Zone 5a.
baccata ´Semperaurea´
____ Reaching about man´s height, with broadly upright, bushy growing
habit, the top of the plant generally remains slanted and has
upward striving branches and numerous short, yellow-bronze
twigs; needles slightly scimitar-shaped and holding the golden
yellow colours well - possibly the best amongst the golden cultivars,
a lovely plant as a specimen. K, S, St. Zone 6b.
