(57)Abstract<br />

The present invention relates to a breathable, liquid barrier composite comprising: a prebonded nonwoven<br />

having a pattern <strong>of</strong> spaced apart bonds with unbonded fibers or filaments between said bonds, a film bonded to said<br />

nonwoven at locations corresponding to said pattern <strong>of</strong> spaced apart bonds and o<strong>the</strong>rwise substantially unbonded to<br />

said nonwoven, wherein said composite has a moisture vapor transmission rate <strong>of</strong> at least about 100 g/m2/24 hours<br />

and a hydrohead value <strong>of</strong> at least about 50 mbar <strong>of</strong> water.<br />
