These surveysresulted in a new «Contemporary Art» publication(2008, issue #5) of the series of articles bythe Institute. This body of work emerged fromprogressive research into such issues as the formationof mass consciousness and cultural transformationin the conditions of a globally expandingmedia, and problems of the genetic fund; italso touches on the social and ethical problemsof using the biological resource of stem cells andchildren’s organ transplants.Another direction of O. Chepelyk’s activityis synthetic cinema and media art. She is alwaysinterested in experimentation. This is especiallyevident in her work as a director. She has beenworking in the field of the experimental cinemasince 1994. Her recent collaboration with writerOksana Zabuzhko, whose philosophical essaysformed the basis for the film «Chronicles ofПЕРЕДМОВА / PREFACE7
