Released prisoners threat to society<br />

667. Mr M WATERS (DA) asked the Minister<br />

<strong>of</strong> Correctional Services:<br />

(1) With reference to the replies to Question<br />

1295 on 31 October 2005 and<br />

Question 122 on 2 May 2007 (copies<br />

furnished), (a) what sentence was<br />

(2)<br />

handed down to each <strong>of</strong>fender, (b) how<br />

long did each <strong>of</strong>fender serve, (c) what<br />

rehabilitation programme did each <strong>of</strong>fender<br />

attend and (d) for how many<br />

hours did each <strong>of</strong>fender attend the<br />

programme;<br />

whether a report was compiled by a<br />

social worker before each <strong>of</strong>fender was<br />

released, stating that the <strong>of</strong>fender was<br />

no longer a threat to society; if not, why<br />

not; if so, (a) which <strong>of</strong>fenders were<br />

considered not to be a threat to society<br />

and (b) which social worker wrote the<br />

a position to provide a reply<br />

because adequate identifying<br />

particulars (eg names) regarding<br />

the <strong>of</strong>fenders were not made<br />

available and they could therefore<br />

not be traced.<br />

Number <strong>of</strong> vacancies in department<br />

889. Mr C M LOWE (DA) asked the<br />

Minister <strong>of</strong> Home Affairs:<br />

(1) (a) What is the breakdown <strong>of</strong> the<br />

number <strong>of</strong> vacancies in each province<br />

and (b) how long have these posts been<br />

vacant as at 30 May 2008;<br />

(2) whether her department has budgeted<br />

to fill these vacancies; if not, why not; if<br />

so, (a) what is the amount budgeted and<br />

(b) how long will it take to fill them?<br />

existed in the nine provinces as at<br />

30 May 2008. Breakdown for each<br />
