Grounds for suspension
1666. Ms D M SMUTS (DA) asked the
Minister of Communications:
(1) Whether, with reference to her reply
to Question 1435 on 10 September
2008, and in light of the High Court
upholding the suspension of Mr Dali
Mpofu as CEO, she intends to persist
in refusing to answer to the question
as to the grounds of the appeal and
the grounds of the decision to uphold
it; if so, what are the relevant details;
(2) whether the SA Broadcasting Corporation
will submit the requested relevant
information under the Protection
of Information Act, Act 84 of
1982; if not, why not; if so, what are
the relevant details? NW2441E

(1) No, Minister can not disclose anything
further.
(2) Mr Mpofu is appealing the decision and
we are unable to obtain further information.

1755. Mr I F JULIES (DA) asked the
Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism:
In respect of each of the past 15 years, (a)
on what date did the Marine and Coastal
Management (MCM) conduct the recruitment
survey regarding the annual catch
and bycatch limits for the sardine and
anchovy fisheries, (b) what were the dates
on which the responsible MCM scientific
working group recommended catch and
bycatch revisions based on the results of
this survey and (c) what were the dates on
which he announced such revisions after
considering the recommendations?
