The MINISTER OF TRADE AND INDUS-
TRY:
The Enterprise Organisation (TEO) received
a total of 39 applications since February
2008. The breakdown of the applications are
as follows:
● 25 South African productions
● Two Co-productions
● 12 Location (foreign) productions.
Staff of the lottery distribution agencies
1478. Dr P J RABIE (DA) asked the
Minister of Trade and Industry:
(1) Whether a review has been conducted
of the staff of the lottery
distribution agencies; if not, why
not; if so, (a) why, (b) what has the
progress been and (c) when will this
process be completed;
(2) whether the performance of the current
and anticipated new staff is to be
improved with the introduction of
effective performance management
systems and targets; if not, what is
the position in this regard; if so, what
are the relevant details? NW2220E

(1) Yes, the performance of the staff is
evaluated regularly in line with the
Board’s
policy.

Strengthening of Lottery Trust Fund
distribution agencies
1510. Mr L B LABUSCHAGNE (DA) asked
the Minister of Trade and Industry:
Whether any steps are being taken to
strengthen the distribution agencies of the
National Lottery Trust Fund; if not, why
not; if so, what steps? NW2252E
The MINISTER OF TRADE AND INDUS-
TRY:
A research report commissioned by the dti
entitled ‘‘Review of the National Lotteries’’,
highlighted certain challenges and constraints
experienced by the distributing
agencies. These included capacity constraints
as well as operational and administrative
challenges. Based on the findings of
the report, the dti intends to amend the
Lotteries Act, in order to strengthen the
distribution agencies as well as the functioning
of the National Lottery.
