Phalaborwa hospital budget<br />

141. Mrs D VAN DER WALT (DA) asked<br />

the Minister <strong>of</strong> Health:<br />

(1) (a) What budget was allocated to the<br />

Phalaborwa hospital in each <strong>of</strong> the<br />

past three financial years for which<br />

information is available and (b) what<br />

was the hospital’s expenditure in<br />

each <strong>of</strong> these years;<br />

(2) whether the hospital is indebted to<br />

any creditors; if so, (a) to whom, (b)<br />

for what service, (c) for what amount<br />

and (d) for how long has this amount<br />

been outstanding;<br />

(3) whether any maintenance was conducted<br />

on (a) medical equipment and<br />

(b) the boilers in any <strong>of</strong> the past three<br />

years; if not, why not; if so, when, in<br />

each case;<br />

(4) whether any medical equipment<br />

leaked, developed faults or malfunctioned<br />

in any way in each <strong>of</strong> these<br />

years; if so, with regard to each such<br />

incident, (a) what equipment was<br />

involved and (b)(i) when and (ii)<br />

under what circumstances did the<br />

incident occur?<br />

The Limpopo Provincial Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Health is still collating information in this<br />

regard and will be forwarded as soon as it is<br />

available.<br />

Budget <strong>of</strong> Limpopo hospitals<br />

367. Mr M WATERS (DA) asked the Minister<br />

<strong>of</strong> Health:<br />

In respect <strong>of</strong> the most recent specified<br />

financial year for which information is<br />

available, (a) what was the total budget <strong>of</strong><br />

each specified hospital in Limpopo, (b)<br />

what amount was owed to each hospital in<br />

unpaid fees, (c) how much <strong>of</strong> this debt has<br />

been owed for more than twelve months<br />

and (d) what amount did each hospital<br />

receive in fee income? NW970E<br />

The MINISTER OF HEALTH:<br />

The Limpopo Provincial Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Health is still attending to the question, and<br />

the information will be forwarded as soon as<br />

it is received from that Province.<br />

Hospital waiting lists<br />

812. Mr M WATERS (DA) asked the Minister<br />

<strong>of</strong> Health:<br />

(1) Whether her department monitors all<br />

the waiting lists for all hospitals; if<br />

not, (a) why not and (b) how service<br />

standards are monitored in this regard;<br />

if so, (i) how many lists are<br />

there, (ii) which operations or procedures<br />

do they cover and (iii) how<br />

<strong>of</strong>ten does her department receive<br />

such lists;<br />

(2) what is the current length <strong>of</strong> time a<br />

person has to wait for each operation<br />

or procedure at each hospital?<br />

from the provinces:<br />

Free State<br />

(1) Yes,<br />

(a) Not applicable;<br />

(b) UAH monitors the waiting lists on<br />

a monthly basis by contacting all<br />

service units and getting feedback<br />

on the waiting lists in existence.<br />

(i) 35 lists in total.<br />

(ii) The operations covered are indicated<br />

on the table below.
