3 22 Jan 07 02 Feb 07 12 Sea Training with the German Navy in European waters. (To train the<br />

crew to safely operate the submarine at sea including operations such<br />

as towing, replenishment at sea, battery charging routines and safety<br />

routines such as fires, floods, plane failures, electrical failures and mechanical<br />

failures.)<br />

4 06 Feb 07 25 Feb 07 20 Work Up Training at sea <strong>of</strong>f Germany and Norway. (To train the crew<br />

in the conduct <strong>of</strong> submarine operations such as discrete patrol, shallow<br />

water operations, including mine laying and periscope recconnoisance<br />

procedures and torpedo firing procedures). At the end <strong>of</strong> the Work Up<br />

the crew is subjected to an inspection before being declared capable <strong>of</strong><br />

operating the submarine safely.)<br />

5 16 Mar 07 24 Mar 07 9 Transit to Rota, Spain. (During transit the crew conducts continuation<br />

training in many aspects <strong>of</strong> submarine operating at sea.)<br />

6 30 Mar 07 27 Apr 07 29 Transit to Simon’s Town. (Continuation training at sea.)<br />

7 12 May 08 22 May 08 11 Exercise ATLASUR (International Exercise) and Operational Training<br />

at Sea and Alongside. (During this period Post Maintenance Trials and<br />

Diving Safety Drills. Exercise ATLASUR is an exercise with the navies<br />

<strong>of</strong> Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil.)<br />

8 22 May 08 06 Jun 08 16 Operation TOOTHFISH — Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). (This<br />

classified EEZ patrol was conducted in the Prince Edward and Marion<br />

Island (PEI) Group EEZ.)
