<strong>BC</strong>-<strong>3500</strong> Bill and Coin Changer<br />

Coin Counting Phototransistor (Detector) Check<br />

1. Turn the bill changer POWER switch OFF.<br />

2. Remove the black plastic cover from the<br />

phototransistor and connect the Common meter<br />

lead to the metal dispenser backing plate as shown<br />

in Figure 3-6A.<br />

3. Connect the + meter lead to the blue wire. (See<br />

Figure 3-6A).<br />

4. Turn the POWER switch ON and check that the<br />

LED’s are lit. The meter should indicate between<br />

4.7 and 5.2 volts DC.<br />

If the meter indication is not correct, the voltage regulator<br />

VR801 on the power supply board (Part Number<br />

70036501) may need replacement.<br />

5. If the meter indication in Step 4 is correct, continue<br />

this procedure. If the voltage was not between 4.7<br />

and 5.2 volts, repair the malfunction before you<br />

continue.<br />

6. Move the + meter lead to the orange wire on the<br />

phototransistor as shown in Figure 3-6B. The<br />

meter should indicate between 3.5 and 5.0 volts<br />

DC.<br />

If the voltage is less than 3.5 volts, replace the<br />

phototransistor board assembly with Part Number<br />

25175702.<br />
