The modernization <strong>of</strong> the street lighting network in Surrey, southeast <strong>of</strong><br />
London, began in <strong>2010</strong> and is the largest such program in the U.K. During the<br />
next five years, a total <strong>of</strong> 89,000 lighting columns will be replaced or renovated.<br />
They will be equipped with more energy-efficient light sources. About 70,000<br />
