3. REGIONAL TRANSIT SERVICES
As part of the existing conditions analysis, it is important to take into account the plans of other agencies
that may have an impact on Omnitrans’ service, as well as understand the connections between these
agencies and Omnitrans. Below is a brief agency-by-agency look at planned projects and service
changes that are expected to have some impact on Omnitrans and its riders, as well as their interaction
with Omnitrans’ routes and services. In addition, Omnitrans and its surrounding transit agencies work
cooperatively to provide transit services throughout the region. To effectively accomplish this, Omnitrans
enters into Cooperative Service Agreements, defined below, with other agencies so that the roles and
responsibilities are clearly defined.
The agencies studied include Riverside Transit Agency, Foothill Transit, Orange County Transportation
Authority, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Pomona Valley Transit Authority,
Mountain Area Regional Transit Authority, Victor Valley Transit Authority, Southern California Regional
Railroad Authority (Metrolink), Greyhound, and Amtrak.
3.1 Riverside Transit Agency
The Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) operates local and regional public transit in Western Riverside
County, including:
• Regional Route 25 on 70-minute headways (Monday through Sunday) between the
Riverside Downtown Terminal and the Loma Linda Medical Center and VA Hospital
where it connects with Omnitrans Routes 2, 9 and 19. Route 25 also provides some
service for Grand Terrace residents (access to Loma Linda). Operating times are
between 5:50 a.m. and 7:50 p.m. on weekdays, 7:50 a.m. and 6:05 p.m. on Saturday,
and 7:50 a.m. and 6:11 p.m. on Sunday.
• Regional Route 36 on 50-minute headways (Monday through Saturday) between
Banning and Redlands Mall Transcenter where it connects with Omnitrans Routes 8,9,
15, and 19. Operating times are between 7:30 a.m. and 5:21 p.m. weekdays and
between 8:00 a.m. and 4:11 p.m. on Saturday.
• Regional Route 204 on 30-minute headways (weekdays) between Riverside Downtown
Terminal and Ontario Mills Mall and the Montclair Transcenter where it connects with
Omnitrans Routes 62, 65, 66, and 68, Foothill Routes 187,190/690, 292, 294, 480 and
492, as well as the Foothill Transit’s Silver Streak express service. Route 204 operates
between 3:38 a.m. to 9:20 a.m., and 2:55 p.m. to 7:49 p.m.
RTA is currently finalizing an SRTP. Discontinuation of Regional Route 36 and 204 are under
consideration because of low ridership.
3.2 Foothill Transit
Foothill Transit is the main service provider to Los Angeles County’s San Gabriel Valley. Foothill
operates:
• Route 187 on 20 minute weekday and 30-minute weekend/holiday headways
between the Montclair Transcenter and Pasadena via Claremont and Glendora.
Route 187 operates 4:00 a.m. to 12:54 a.m. on weekdays and 5:00 a.m. to 12:19
a.m. on weekends and holidays.
