Carry out procedure as follows:<br />
– First check whether a coded radio is fitted. If so, obtain antitheft<br />
code.<br />
– With ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap ⇒<br />
Electrical system; Rep. Gr. 27 ; Removing and installing battery<br />
.<br />
– Remove gaiter with selector knob and noise insulation<br />
⇒ page 61 .<br />
– Remove centre console and securing bracket for centre console<br />
⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr. 68 ; Compartments,<br />
covers and trims .<br />
– Remove selector housing nuts -arrows-.<br />
– Remove complete air filter housing if it is over selector mechanism<br />
⇒ Rep. Gr. 23 ; Repairing diesel direct injection system<br />
or ⇒ Rep. Gr. 24 ; Repairing injection system .<br />
– Remove securing clip -3- for gear selector cable from <strong>gearbox</strong><br />
selector lever -1-.<br />
– Pull gear selector cable off pin.<br />
Metal relay lever<br />
– Remove securing clip -4- for gate selector cable from relay<br />
lever -2-.<br />
– Pull gate selector cable from pin.<br />
Plastic relay lever<br />
