Astudy of public speaking. beginning with areview of the<br />
fundamentals of speech as they relate to communicating with an<br />
audience, continuing with astudy of theories and techniques of<br />
persuasion with practical application and an analysis of various<br />
types of speeches with practice In researching, constructing and<br />
delivering speeches of each type. Includes astudy of the basics<br />
in parliamentRrY procedure and public discussion with practice in<br />
participating in and leading parliamentary meetings.<br />

Prerequis:te: COM 102 or permission of instructor.<br />
Acourse in practica: reasoning. appraisal and use of evidence.<br />
recognition of fallacies and application of debate forms and<br />
oral style of argumentation. Intercollegiate debate optional for<br />
